Halloween Climatology for Peoria

October 30, 2018 0 Comments

Tomorrow is Halloween, and we’ll see cloudy skies with highs in the upper 50s and lows in the upper 40s. Rain chances are low, but a stray light shower can’t be completely ruled out. But how does this weather stack up against previous Halloweens?

The average high for October 31 in Peoria is 59° and the average low is 39°.

The record high is 85° set in 1950, and the record low is 14° set in 1925.

The lowest high temperature was 35° in 1918, and the highest low temperature was 64° set in 1974.

The daily rainfall record is 1.69″ set in 1994, and while there is no measurable snowfall on record, a trace of snow was recorded in 1918 and a trace was on the ground from an earlier snowfall on 1925.

Of the 134 years on record (records in Peoria go back to 1883) there has been measurable precipitation in 44 of them, 23 have have highs of 70° or higher, and 29 have had lows at or below freezing.

So all things considered, it looks like this year’s weather will be somewhere average and uneventful compared to previous years.

I hope everyone has a Happy Halloween, and don’t eat all of the candy at once. 🙂
